Belarusian FM meets with Nicaraguan president, conveys greetings from Lukashenko

MINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik met with President Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Vice President Rosario Murillo Zambrana on 20 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties summed up the results of the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Managua and reaffirmed mutual commitment to intensifying cooperation to achieve the set goals. The similarity of views on world geopolitical processes and the situation in the respective regions was highlighted.

The Nicaraguan president was conveyed a message of greetings from the Belarusian head of state Aleksandr Lukashenko on the 44th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista revolution.

Minister Sergei Aleinik and members of the Belarusian delegation held talks with Nicaraguan Minister of Foreign Affairs Denis Ronaldo Moncada Colindres. The parties discussed the current international agenda, the results of the recent summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the EU in Brussels, and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to continuing showing solidarity and providing mutual support in the international arena.

It was noted that in a difficult geopolitical situation, it is very important for countries such as Belarus and Nicaragua to support each other, develop relations at the interstate, intergovernmental and interpersonal levels.

Following the talks, the foreign ministers signed an intergovernmental agreement on mutual abolition of visas and an intergovernmental agreement on the establishment of a joint commission on trade and economic cooperation. The roadmap for cooperation in agriculture was approved.

The Belarusian tractor manufacturer MTZ signed a two-year framework contract to supply its products to Nicaragua. The Belarusian automaker MAZ signed a contract with the Managua mayor's office to supply its vehicles. An agreement was reached to ship 236 units of Amkodor vehicles for the construction industry and utilities sector of Nicaragua.

The Bolshoi Theater of Belarus, the Ruben Dario National Theatre and the Nicaraguan Cultural Foundation Incanto signed a memorandum of cooperation.
