Kamenets district is formed on January, 15, 1940. In modern borders has developed in 1962. The district center is the town Kamenets. Till June, 24, 1983 was a town settlement. 8,7 thousand persons lives in Kamenets.

The territory of the district is administratively divided on Vusokovskij town council and 14 rural councils. 42 thousand people (46,7 percent of men, 53,3 percent of women) live in 234 settlements. In towns Kamenets and Vysokoe live 14 thousand people. On results of population census of Belarus in 1999 Belarusian make 83,6%, Russian - 6,7%, Ukrainian - 7,7%, Poles - 2,2% from general number of district population.

The area of Kamenets district is 1690 square meters. The district borders on Poland, Brest, Zhabinka, Kobrin and Pruzhany districts of Brest region and on Svisloch district of Grodno region. The surface is hilly-flat, the crown - 198 meters above the sea level. Minerals: peat, clay, building sand, sand-gravel material.

The main waterways are the river Zapadnyj Bug with inflows Lesnaja and Pulva. There are 34 reservoirs on the territory of district, the largest from them is Sipurka, which area makes 29,7 hectares. Woods make 27% of the territory of district, including the State nature board "National park "Belovezhskaja puscsha". 60,4% of the territory of district are occupied for agricultural grounds.

The highways Brest-Belovezhskaja puscsha, Pruzhany-Vysokoje, Kamenets-Zhabinka, Brest-Vysokoe cross the district.
