he first international winter sports games Children of Primorye kicked off with an ice hockey tournament on 20 February.
The Belarusian U16 team is taking part in the 3x3 tournament at Fetisov Arena in Russia’s Vladivostok. Belarus’ team edged the team of Sakhalin Oblast 7-6, whitewashed the team of Amur Oblast 13-0 and took a solid win over the team of China’s Qiqihar 12-0.
Head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko and Head of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov as well as Governor of Russia’s Primorye Territory Oleg Kozhemyako attended the first match of Belarus’ U16 team at the tournament. After the game the NOC president met with the Belarusian players, wished them to keep the winning spirit further. Semifinals are scheduled for 21 February, with the medal events to take place on 22 February.
The first international winter sports games Children of Primorye is featuring more than 1,000 young athletes from Primorye Territory, Far Eastern Federal District of the Russian Federation, as well as Belarus, China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Uzbekistan. The program of the competitions includes cross-country skiing, snowboarding, alpine skiing, curling, figure skating, short track, ice hockey and phygital hockey.
